RSE@Lochaber

The Royal Society of Edinburgh is planning a high-quality programme of activities for young people and the public across the region of Lochaber.

Drawing on input from the local community and the expertise of the RSE’s distinguished Fellows and other experts, it is proposed that this new programme of inspirational educational talks, discussion forums and workshops for school-aged children and the wider public will commence in Autumn 2012 and run until Summer 2013.

The aim of this initiative is to enhance the understanding and appreciation that people, and in particular school children, have of their local community, by encouraging a sense of belonging to an area rich in cultural and human resources.

RSE @ Lochaber will involve the RSE working across the region to provide a greater understanding of the area’s past and present life, as a community, existing within the context of Scotland, the UK and the wider world, and to provide a sound and informed basis to empower the community to address issues related to its future development and continuing prosperity.

The RSE is seeking support from individuals, organisations and charitable foundations who feel the project is worthwhile.
