So that the list of those elected will be accurate, I should be most grateful if you would review the information on the form you have received and let us know of amendments/additions to your record, using this ONLINE FORM. We would also be very grateful if you could supply us with up to 100 words describing your expertise/interests.
All new Fellows are invited to an Induction Day on Monday 14 May and we would be delighted if you were able to be present. The day will start with lunch at 12.30 pm with the RSE Council in the Society’s Rooms, followed by an introduction to the Society’s activities and an opportunity to meet the Society’s staff. Later on (at 5pm) there will be a ceremony for Fellows to sign the Society’s Roll Book and be formally admitted to the Fellowship. This ceremony will be followed by a drinks reception. Please indicate your attendance on the online form. In connection with attending a Meeting of the Society to sign the Roll of Fellows, you should note that Law 36 of the Society states that “…admission of new Fellows to the Society is not complete until this has been done….”.
Your expertise text and a portrait image of you will be published in a booklet of new Fellows which will be available as a permanent memento of the Induction Day. Your portrait will also be reproduced on a display board of new Fellows.
Could you please therefore email Jenny Liddell as soon as possible an electronic copy (at least passport-sized) of a recent portrait (preferred format JPEG or TIFF, 300dpi) or send a hard copy of a photograph (non-returnable) addressed to Jenny Liddell at the RSE address.
If you cannot attend on 14 May there will be other opportunities at ‘Ordinary Meetings’ to sign the Roll and be admitted to the Fellowship. The dates of these Ordinary Meetings are in the Events Diary which is normally issued twice a year.. For an overview of the Society you may wish to view the Society’s most recent Annual Review.
As the Society is an independent charity, I trust you will understand that it is necessary for its Fellows to pay an annual subscription. The current annual subscription for Fellows under age 65 is £180. Fellows aged between 65 and 80, or those who live overseas, pay the abated rate of £90. As you have been elected halfway through the present Session, a reduced sum of £90 (or £45.00 for the abated rate) is applicable. In addition, a one-off admission fee of £280 is payable by all new Fellows as a contribution to the costs of processing their candidature. Accordingly, the total due upon election is £370.00 (full rate) or £325.00 (abated rate). After the public announcement on 7 March of the result of the election, we shall send you a formal request for payment of the subscription due.
