Education Policy

Education Policy

There are a number of major reforms underway in Scottish education and the RSE has been actively engaged with policy-makers on these issues. An Education Committee was formed in 2009 to provide ongoing advice to the Scottish Government and other relevant bodies on the proposed changes.

Committee Activity

Through the Committee we identify and promote priorities for education in Scotland.  The Committee and its members have been active on a number of policy areas: the Scottish Government decided to call a Science Summit in response to issues raised about science and mathematics achievement in Scottish schools in the Trends in Mathematics and Science Survey (TIMSS), and all members of the Education Committee were invited to contribute.
