Dear Fellow

The Royal Society of Edinburgh (RSE) together with Highlands and Islands Enterprise, UHI Millennium Institute and Scottish Natural Heritage is organising a conference entitled The Life and Culture of the Highlands and Islands. The first in a two part series of conferences will be held in Edinburgh at the Royal Society of Edinburgh on Tuesday 23 September 2008. It is planned to have the second event in Skye in 2009. On behalf of the Society, it gives me great pleasure to invite to you to participate in this event as a member of the audience.

The audience will include policymakers, decision-makers and representatives from organisations and agencies, Scotland’s brightest and most influential people, such as yourself, and will be an opportunity to learn about a region of Scotland, organizations, institutions and companies of different sizes and types, all of whom have experienced challenges but managed to overcome them and produce a vibrant, thriving economic and cultural community.

Attendees will have an opportunity to hear directly from a diverse range of people involved in business, technology, education, the arts, publishing and music and will be encouraged to discuss with them their strategies and recommendations for success and whether these can be applied in other situations.
We are happy for you to attend as many sessions as you would like or to attend your preferred session and nominate a colleague/s from within your organisation to attend other sessions. The Society will be delighted if you would accept our invitation to contribute to this Conference on The Life and Culture of the Highlands and Islands. I look forward to receiving your reply.
If you wish to attend, please click here to register your interest. Replies are required by Friday 15 August.
