International Programme / Exchanges / Hungarian Academy of Sciences

The Royal Society of Edinburgh has a Memorandum of Understanding with the Hungarian Academy of Sciences to facilitate, encourage and support research collaboration in all areas between research groups in Scotland and Hungary. This scheme is additional to and complements existing schemes operated at UK level by the Royal Society and the British Academy in London.

The RSE exchange programme is offered from autumn 2005 and grants are awarded through a competitive process to support study visits to and from Hungary.

Exchange Programme grants are for short-term visits of one to four weeks duration, the key objectives being to enhance the research capabilities of individual researchers, develop international collaborative links and enable participation in international programmes. Both visitors and hosts in Hungary should have established contact before submitting an application, either by previous collaboration or by scientific correspondence.

Visits are funded by the terms of agreements with the Hungarian Academy of Sciences. The RSE will pay the cost of APEX or equivalent fares plus travel to and from the UK departure point. Local costs will be met by the Hungarian Academy of Sciences.
