Under the title, "The Ageing Population", Fellowships and Scholarships can cover all aspects of the ageing process eg the medical, psychological, sociological and economic consequences of old age and the research proposed must aim at improving the quality of life.

Support Research Fellowships are for existing members of academic staff who have held their appointments for at least 5 years. They are normally tenable for 1 year and provide funding for a replacement, to enable the Fellow to take study leave whilst remaining in continuous employment with present employer.
