Interactive SET workshops will be available on the following subjects:
- civil engineering (build a raft and test it on a wave basin);
- mechanical engineering;
- computer science;
- chemistry;
- actuarial maths;
- sports psychology
- physics (see lasers at work while making ice-cream!)

The summer school also included a core skills workshop which provided information in relation to the final years of school, at university or in a job, for example, presentation skills and note-taking. This session took place mid week at the Royal Society of Edinburgh and was lead by the RSE’s Education Officer. The group work also covered the different approaches to studying at University compared to school and best practise with regards to preparing for exams. The session began with a presentation introducing students to the role of the RSE, examples of past and present inspirational Fellows, as well as details of grants and awards that maybe made available to them should they continue their studies into research areas that could benefit Scotland and beyond.
